What’s the difference between the YWCA and the YMCA?

It’s more than an initial. The YWCA is committed to a mission to empower women and eliminate racism. We take a woman-focused approach to issues and to the services we offer because when women thrive, families thrive.

What does membership include?

Membership in the YWCA signals a person’s support for what the YWCA stands for — an organization of women working on behalf of women. It stands for someone who believes in the YWCA mission to empower women and eliminate racism. YWCA membership is a cost-effective way to use and support services offered in Syracuse.

Today we don’t offer the kind of services traditionally associated with a “Y” membership, such as swimming pools, exercise classes and CPR. We leave recreation to other organizations and focus on what we do best — offering supportive services to women, children and families so that they can achieve their best. See our Membership page to learn more about it.

Can I use my local YWCA membership at other YWCAs?

Membership in the YWCA Syracuse & Onondaga County gives you membership privileges at any YWCA with respect to facilities and programs. YWCAs may charge program fees.
