Why Should I Give?

Many of our programs wouldn't exist without help from people like you. We couldn't survive without the wonderful support we get from individuals, groups, foundations and corporations.

But as Syracuse continues to grow, so do the needs of its residents.

Here are some things to consider when you're making your decision to donate:

Since organizing in 1885, the YWCA of Syracuse & Onondaga County has built a community-wide reputation for providing innovative and quality programs for women, children and families. A non-profit organization, the YWCA is driven by our mission.

As the YWCA looks toward the new millennium, our goal is to continue this tradition by being pro-active in identifying the future needs of our constituents--and preparing for them now. Your financial support will help us attain this goal.

How Can My Donation help?

Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference. Don't believe us? Take a look:

$15 gives a child a brand new toy

$22 gives a nutritional snack for 40 school-age children in after school programs

$49 provides salary for women running the residence's newsstand

$90 allows a woman to be given 6 months of follow-up support in the residence program

$520 provides an abused woman with case management, supportive counseling and housing

What Are My Giving Options?

As you can see, every little bit helps. Whether you donate $5 or $5000, know that your donation is helping improve the lives of women and children in your community.

Many companies will match you or your spouse’s gift to the YWCA. Check with your benefits office or call the office to find out how your gift to the YWCA can have even more impact.

Special Donations

There are also a number of ways you can make a special contribution, either as an individual or as a group. They include:

• "In Memoriam" donations to honor the memory of a loved one
• Donations to celebrate a special person or occasion
• Choosing the YWCA as a beneficiary of one of your corporate or community group events
• A bequest to the YWCA in your will
• Naming the YWCA as a beneficiary in a life insurance policy
• Transferring ownership of an existing policy to the YWCA.

Throughout its history the YWCA of Syracuse and Onondaga County has been sustained by individuals and corporations who understand the need for programs and services directed toward women, children and families.
