YWCA OF SYRACUSE AND ONONDAGA COUNTY INC.

Executive Director Fanny Villarreal

January 2013, Fanny Villarreal of Syracuse assumed leadership from retiring Executive Director Joan Durant.

Ms. Villarreal joins the YWCA with impressive leadership qualities. Over the last 19 years Ms. Villarreal has served the Central New York community
in various not-for-profit roles, including Family and Community Development Director at P.E.A.C.E Inc. and Executive Director at Spanish Action League.
She also is the founder of Nosotros Radio Inc., “Your Latino Voice,” and Co-founder of NYS Hispanic Coalition.

It was the YWCA’s mission that first got the attention of Ms. Villarreal. Her personal goal of working to eliminate racism and empowering women fit perfectly with the agency’s agenda.
“I’m hoping to establish partnerships in the community to continue the work toward our goal of the empowering women and girls, promoting diversity and eliminating racism.” said Ms. Villarreal.

Ms. Villarreal says she is impressed by the leadership of the YWCA’s Board and staff.
“I’m looking forward to working with them to do some amazing things together and move the YWCA forward.”
