Spirit of American Women

Spirit of American Women is a yearly special event that supports the women, girls and families served through YWCA programs such as Girls Incorporated, the Women’s Residence and our Out of School Time programs. These programs enrich the lives of women and girls in our community. Spirit of American Women is also a fundraiser that celebrates the power of individual philanthropy. Guests hear from women who have changed their lives with support from YWCA Syracuse & Onondaga County and discover how their gift benefits women and girls in our community.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your donation towards the YWCA of Syracuse & Onondaga Co. Inc.  Spirit of American Women event.  I am so pleased to report that over 160 guests helped us raise funds for YWCA programs!  Your donation of $ will help us further our goal of empowering girls and women.

We are thankful for girls and women like Candace who lives at our Women’s Residence Program; who gave an empowering speech on her experiences and how your support has allowed her to accomplish success.  We were also able to spotlight four girls; Anna, Grace, Mahella and Anahji, of whom all have attended the Girls In. at the YWCA Teen Summer Camp this year.  All of these ladies inspire us with their courage and determination. Candace spoke as living witness of what intentional and continued financial contributions into such a program like the YWCA Women’s Supportive Housing Program can provide for struggling women. We are grateful to you who share our deep commitment to helping every girl like the girls ambassadors; Anna, Grace, Mahella, and Anahja grow up strong, smart & bold and to continue the empowerment of every women like Candace. The YWCA wanted to take the time this year to honor a few integral women in our community. We are thankful for their service at various levels and would like to take time out to show them how their lives pave the way for other women to pursue their passion and make a real difference in their community. Tatiana Williams, Liz Liddy, and Rosemary Agonito were honored for their benevolent service to our community that has directly impacted the growth of the YWCA in the areas of Science , Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Kimberly Boynton made an impactful statement for those in attendance and reminded us all to think of our future and our community, and her legacy has paved the way for women to be strong, smart, and bold. Thank you for coming to our event and supporting our mission as we work to empower women.

Your investment directly benefits YWCA programs aimed at real solutions to real problems-through girls programming, affordable housing, economic empowerment, and self-sufficiency. These programs enrich the lives of women and girls in our community. Again, thank you!
