Girls’ Summit is a hands-on career exploration day that introduces students in grades 5th to 10th to non-traditional fields in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math (S.T.E.A.M.).

This free event held at SUNY ESF includes a series of workshops, a keynote address, and a women in business panel focused on opportunities in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math.

This event will run from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on the ESF campus. Participants will rotate through 4 of 8 workshops. Each workshop will run for approximately 45 minutes and will include hands-on activities to engage the students. A free lunch is provided!

The mission of Girls’ Summit is to empower, motivate, educate, and change the perception of girls and women in S.T.E.A.M. The program is open to everyone, regardless of their sex, gender, or gender identity. Past workshop topics have included paper-making and testing, building watershed models, constructing wind turbines, heartbeat regulation, Science for Health and Life, coding, Scratch software, and fermentation.

This years workshops will include Paper Making & Testing with SUNY ESF Chemical Engineering, Biochemical and Medical Engineering with Syracuse University, Environmental Science with Syracuse University, Food Science with Byrne Dairy, Architecture and Engineering with C&S Companies, Chemistry with SUNY ESF Chemistry, Carpentry with Marie Weiss, Energy and Technology with Grid for Good, and more!
