21st Annual Day of Commitment
“No Hate. No Fear. Creating an Inclusive Community.”
On Thursday, April 25th, YWCA of Syracuse and Onondaga County, Inc. will be presenting our 21st Annual Day of Commitment to Eliminate Racism and Promote Diversity at Marriott Downtown Syracuse. The event is themed “No Hate. No Fear. Creating an Inclusive Community.”
Since its inception, the Day of Commitment has featured the Induction Ceremony of our Academy of Diversity Achievers, which has honored nearly 350 community leaders for spearheading programs that embrace and promote diversity, support opportunities for women’s growth and leadership, and advance the elimination of racism. The Day of Commitment has also been a medium for important diversity training, offering dozens of professional development workshops on multicultural and Diversity & Inclusion initiatives that have benefited nearly 1,000 event participants. With the backing of corporate partners that choose to invest in YWCA’s community-oriented work, the event has evolved into a signature fundraiser that celebrates notable work to end discrimination while equipping participants to launch similar projects themselves.
To promote progress toward a more equal society, YWCA of Syracuse and Onondaga County, Inc. will hold the 21st Annual Day of Commitment on Thursday, April 25th , at Marriott Downtown Syracuse. Themed “No Hate. No Fear. Creating an Inclusive Community.” the event will include a morning training — the Community Advocacy and Diversity Workshop Program consisting of three sessions. The sessions will equip training participants with the tools to contribute to the event’s larger goal of working to eradicate racism and form a more inclusive and equitable society. Certificates will be available to attendees completing an entire workshop track at the event. The luncheon that follows the training will offer inspirational reflections from local community leaders and the presentation of the 2019 Champion of Opportunity Award at this year’s YWCA Academy of Diversity Achievers Induction Ceremony. This year’s inductees will be invited to engage with YWCA programs throughout the year via volunteer and ambassador opportunities.
