The Spirit of American Women Celebration will highlight the empowerment and accomplishments of women and girls in our community. Iris St. Meran of NewsChannel 9 will serve as our Mistress of Ceremonies. The program will include:

  • Keynote address by Stephanie Crockett, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mower
  • Impact story by a member of the YWCA Women’s Residence Program

Additionally, this year we will honor three local women for their efforts to positively impact our community through volunteerism, altruism and advocacy, and STEM enrichment. Nominations are now closed and our 2023 award winners will be announced soon–stay tuned for more details!

Last year, four local women were honored with the Spirit of American Women Awards. Their actions reflect our work to empower girls and women and strengthen the fabric of our community by helping advance opportunities for all. Our 2022 Spirit of American Women Award Winners were:

    • Tamica Barnett | Lieutenant, Syracuse Fire Department
    • Terry Hopkins | Administrative Principal, C&S Companies
    • Mary Nelson | President/CEO, Mary Nelson Youth Center
    • Lisa Sacco | Chief of Staff, Assemblymember Pamela J. Hunter

Proceeds from the event will help support key YWCA programs and services, including our Women’s Residence, Girls Inc. at YWCA programs, and youth soccer initiatives. Click here to purchase your tickets today!
