Spirit of American Women Celebration
The YWCA of Syracuse and Onondaga County celebrated the 2022 Spirit of American Women on Wednesday, November 16, at DoubleTree by Hilton. This event ran from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. and included hors d’oeuvres, dinner, dessert, and a cash bar.
The Spirit of American Women Celebration highlights the empowerment and accomplishments of women and girls served through YWCA programs. Iris St. Meran of NewsChannel 9 served as our Mistress of Ceremonies. The program included:
- Keynote address by Emily Kadar, Director of Women’s Affairs in the Office of Governor Kathy Hochul
- Impact story by a member of the YWCA Women’s Residence Program
- Girls Inc. at YWCA Presentation by members of the winning Dream BuildHER Team
Additionally, four local women were honored with the Spirit of American Women Awards, celebrating their efforts to positively impact our community through volunteerism, altruism and advocacy, and STEM enrichment. These actions capture the YWCA’s mission of empowering girls and women and strengthen the fabric of our community by helping to advance opportunities for all.
