YWCA Youth Soccer

Over the past 6 years, YWCA’s Youth Soccer Initiative has positively impacted nearly 1,000 youth, many of whom are refugees in the City of Syracuse and Onondaga Nation.

Our Initiative is made up of two programs, Soccer for Success and Syracuse City Futbol Community (FC), which together create a continuum that leverages the fun of soccer to engage youth in curricula and activities proven to improve health and wellbeing, provide opportunities for progressive skill development, and meaningfully and intentionally meet youths’ needs. Through this programming, we strive to promote a culture of unity, compassion, collaboration, and excellence while providing opportunities to learn, play, develop healthy lifestyles, and increase pathways to success.

  • Soccer for Success

    Soccer for Success

Offered in partnership with the U.S. Soccer Foundation, this free program is designed to introduce children in K–8th grade to the sport of soccer, while also providing them and their families with the tools they need to make healthy lifestyle decisions. The program supports children in improving their physical health, increasing their knowledge about healthy lifestyles, and improving their self-esteem and behavior.

The Soccer for Success program model is built upon Five Core Components: Physical Activity, Health & Wellness, Mentorship, Community Engagement, and Safe Spaces. These components make up the foundation of the Soccer for Success program and are the building blocks of the curriculum and training.

Our evidence-based program provides a two–three times a week, 60–90 minutes per session curriculum that uses integrated learning activities to teach health and wellness lessons, typically focused on nutrition learning objectives.

  • Syracuse City FC (Futbol Community)

    Syracuse City FC (Futbol Community)

A free club program, best known as Syracuse City FC, consisting of 5 competitive teams: U-13 boys, U-16 boys, U-18 boys, U-15 girls, and U-17 girls.

We are passionate about achieving social equity by ensuring that every child has equal access to opportunities, including the chance to compete in leagues that are typically financially out of reach for many families. Our commitment is to provide these opportunities to the families and children within our community.

Programming is offered in 3 seasons: November–January (indoor league), February–April (indoor league), and May–June (outdoor league).

The indoor seasons take place at Syracuse Indoor Sports Center and CNY Family Sports Center, while all outdoor activities take place at CNY Family Sports Center. Please note that U-18 boys typically travel for games and girls' teams are typically combined in the summer in which they compete every Saturday.
