The YWCA serves the needs of women through the Women's Residence Program, which provides supportive transitional and permanent housing services for single women and mothers who are survivors of domestic violence. 

We are not a shelter; we are a program that offers the following services:

  • Support Groups

  • Non-Residential Services

  • Safe, structured, and affordable housing to women and their children 

  • Fifty-five units; one, two and three bedrooms furnished and unfurnished apartments 

  • 20 independent living units in partnership with Housing Visions

While maintaining housing, each resident is assigned to a case manager who aids them in managing finances, establishing a stable lifestyle, achieving individual goals, developing their career, resolving conflicts positively, improving social skills, enhancing parent skills, making healthy decisions, and becoming more self-sufficient. Support Groups

  • WOW (Women of Worth) 

There are weekly AA meetings offered at the main office on Burt Street. Additionally, there are Domestic Violence support groups (WOW) held at the same location.

Non-Residential Services

  • 24/7 Information Line 

  • Advocacy Services – transportation, accommodation for court appearances, etc.  

  • Interpretation (Spanish and English) 

  • Referrals  

  • My Sisters Closet  

Located at 300 Burt Street in Syracuse, My Sister’s Closet helps women in the Residence Program to develop appropriate professional wardrobes as they work towards finding and obtaining employment. While our residents are given priority, the services at My Sister’s Closet are open to anyone in the community who can benefit from them. We sincerely appreciate donations of gently used women’s work clothing and accessories.
