Girls Inc. at the YWCA of Syracuse & Onondaga County

Girls Incorporated is a national nonprofit youth organization dedicated to inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. With roots dating to 1864, Girls Inc. has provided vital education programs to millions of American girls, particularly those in high-risk, underserved areas. Today, innovative programs help girls confront subtle societal messages about their value and potential, and prepare them to live successful, independent, and fulfilling lives.

In 2007, Girls Inc. of CNY merged with the YWCA Syracuse & Onondaga County to create our Girls Inc. at the YWCA program. Girls Inc. at the YWCA also inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. This program encourages girls to take risks and master physical, intellectual and emotional challenges.

We are honored to locally have served over 200 girls in 2022! Girls Inc. at the YWCA reaches girls ages 5-18, primarily from the SCSD. Our curriculum focuses on healthy living, academic enrichment and support, and life skills.

Girls Inc. at the YWCA offers:

  • Center-based programs at Zonta House, including afterschool and summer programs
  • Outreach programs in local public schools
  • Career exploration events

Some Girls Inc. program features are:

  • A pro-girl and girls-only environment
  • Researched based curriculum
  • Hands on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) activities
